Judge Caligiuri was appointed to the Hennepin County bench by Gov. Mark Dayton in 2014, after being recommended to the Governor by the Judicial Selection Commission. She is currently assigned to handle criminal cases. 

Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Caligiuri was a Senior Assistant Hennepin County Attorney and supervisor of the office’s Drug Team. As a prosecutor, she tried primarily violent crime and drug cases, including a number of gang-related homicides. Prior to joining the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, Judge Caligiuri was a Deputy Attorney General, overseeing the Civil Litigation, Torts and Employment Law, Medicaid Fraud, and Tax Litigation divisions within the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office. She also managed the AGO’s Criminal Trial Division. Just after law school, Judge Caligiuri served as a law clerk to the Hon. Marianne D. Short on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

Judge Caligiuri is a member of the Minnesota State and Hennepin County bar associations. While working as a prosecutor, she was a frequent lecturer for the Minnesota County Attorneys Association, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and other state and federal agencies. She served as a liaison to the Second Precinct Court Watch. Judge Caligiuri was a voting member of the Minnesota Violent Crime Coordinating Council and its predecessor statewide councils, and was a member of the Douglas K. Amdahl Inn of Court.

Judge Caligiuri currently serves as the assistant presiding judge of the court's criminal division and the statewide chair of the Criminal Jury Instructions Committee.
